Ross’s Plant of the Week

Apr 28, 2019

In my opinion, Clematis x cartmanii ‘Avalanche is a fantastic addition to your Spring garden. With bright white blooms and evergreen foliage, ideal for a pergola or a wall, and being evergreen, perfect for year round interest and covering potentially unsightly areas of the garden.

A hardy climber, easy to establish in any aspect, however, as with all clematis it is recommended you plant deep, 4-6″ above the “nursery line” (the point where compost sits against the plants stem in the container when you purchase it), as will help prevent clematis wilt (sudden death!!!). Establish this clematis in well drained soil of any type or pH , aiming for a shaded root (ground cover plants may help) and hot sunny heads.

A stunning climber for any garden!
