We have all the blooming magic at Bumbles at the moment and our Paphiopedilum Orchids are total showstoppers this year!
A beautifully intricate flower, often called a slipper orchid owing to its cute little pouch, they are easily grown as houseplants but do require more frequent watering than some other orchids because they have no pseudobulbs to store water.
Tips for growing Paphiopedilum Slipper Orchids:
- Use a shallow tray of pebbles filled with water to increase humidity around your plant. Be sure the pot does not sit in water as the roots will rot.
- When the blooms are finished, cut the spike down to the level of the leaves. Continue watering and fertilizing and within a year a new growth will spike to begin the blooming cycle again!
- When the plant has finished blooming is a good time to repot your orchid.
